Bread

  • 1 loaf brioche (or challah, or french bread, cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Spread bread cubes in the dish and whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour egg mixture over bread, pressing down lightly, and drizzle melted butter on top.
  • Let sit for 10 minutes, then bake uncovered for 40 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool slightly before serving warm with syrup, powdered sugar, or berries.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of nutmeg or top with fresh fruit.
