Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup very cold butter (8 tablespoons or 1 stick of butter)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Strawberry Filling

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (chopped)
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Prepare an 8x8 pan with parchment paper.
  • Mix dry ingredients and cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  • Add beaten egg and vanilla, then pat half into the pan.
  • Combine strawberries with sugar and cornstarch, then layer over crust.
  • Crumble remaining dough on top and bake for 45 minutes.

Notes

Cool completely before cutting into squares; refrigerate until serving.
