Baking Essentials

  • 1 cup salted butter (softened) 2 sticks
  • 1.33 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.33 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3.25 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.75 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 0.33 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1.5 tablespoons cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare baking sheets.
  • Beat butter, sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
  • Mix flour, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar; combine with wet ingredients.
  • Shape dough into balls, roll in cinnamon-sugar, and place on baking sheet.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes, let cool, then coat in cinnamon-sugar.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the dough to keep cookies soft.
