Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and place a cast iron skillet inside to heat.
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Add milk, melted butter, and egg; stir until just combined.
Remove skillet from oven, add 1 tablespoon of butter or oil, then pour batter into skillet.
Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden and a knife inserted comes out clean.
Serve warm with butter.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use melted butter instead of oil.
