Ingredients
  

Shrimp

  • 20-25 pieces large shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails on) Use fresh or frozen shrimp, thawed before cooking
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For cooking shrimp
  • 1 lemon lemon For zest and juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder Optional
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust to preference
  • 1 cup ketchup Base for cocktail sauce
  • 2 tablespoons horseradish Adjust to heat preference
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon hot sauce Optional, for a kick
  • for garnish Fresh parsley For garnish
  • for garnish Lemon wedges For serving
  • optional Ice For chilling shrimp

Instructions
 

  • Cook the shrimp in boiling water with a little salt until pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes. Drain and chill.
  • In a bowl, combine ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce to make the cocktail sauce.
  • Peel and devein the cooked shrimp if desired, then arrange on a platter.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon wedges. Serve with cocktail sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate cooked shrimp in a little lemon juice and herbs before serving.
