Instructions
Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit until foamy. Add salt, flour, and butter; knead into smooth dough.
Let dough rest in a warm place until doubled in size.
Shape dough into ropes, cut into bite-sized pieces, then boil in water with baking soda for 20–30 seconds.
Remove bites, drain, brush with egg wash, sprinkle coarse salt, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes.
Notes
For extra flavor, brush with melted butter after baking.
