Instructions
Remove the steaks from the refrigerator 30-60 minutes before cooking to allow them to reach room temperature.
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, add oil, and swirl to coat.
Carefully place the steaks in the hot pan and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side.
Add butter, crushed garlic, and thyme in the last minute, basting the steaks.
Remove the steaks, let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
