Ingredients
  

Meat

  • 2 lbs beef cube steak
  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms (thickly sliced)
  • 2 tbs oil (divided)
  • 32 oz beef stock
  • 3 tbs butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350F/180C. Mix seasoned flour and reserve 1/4 cup for thickening.
  • Dredge steaks in flour, brown in skillet with 1 tablespoon oil, then remove.
  • Sauté mushrooms until brown, then remove. Make a roux with butter and reserved flour.
  • Whisk in beef stock, pour gravy over steaks and mushrooms, cover, and bake for 2 hours.

Notes

Ensure to brown the steaks well for added flavor.
