Ingredients
  

Hawaiian sweet rolls

  • 12 rolls Hawaiian sweet rolls cut into cubes
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • 0.5 cups heavy cream
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg optional
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter melted
  • 0.5 cups brown sugar for topping
  • powdered sugar for garnish
  • maple syrup for serving

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Cut Hawaiian sweet rolls into 1-inch cubes and spread evenly in the baking dish.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour over rolls and let soak for 10-15 minutes.
  • Drizzle melted butter mixed with brown sugar over the soaked rolls.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cover with foil if top browns too quickly. Let cool for 5 minutes, dust with powdered sugar, and serve with maple syrup.

Notes

For an extra crispy top, bake for an additional 5 minutes. Serve with fresh fruit for a balanced breakfast.
