A delicious twist on French toast, this Hawaiian Roll French Toast Bake is a sweet and indulgent breakfast or brunch dish that combines the softness of Hawaiian rolls with a custard-like topping.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
Cut Hawaiian sweet rolls into 1-inch cubes and spread evenly in the baking dish.
Whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour over rolls and let soak for 10-15 minutes.
Drizzle melted butter mixed with brown sugar over the soaked rolls.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cover with foil if top browns too quickly. Let cool for 5 minutes, dust with powdered sugar, and serve with maple syrup.
Notes
For an extra crispy top, bake for an additional 5 minutes. Serve with fresh fruit for a balanced breakfast.
