Ingredients
  

Meat

  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef (85/15 or 90/10)
  • to taste hot honey
  • 1 medium yellow or white onion, minced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 1 tablespoon non-alcoholic rice cooking beverage (or substitute)

Base

  • 4 cups cooked white rice (jasmine or basmati)

Vegetables

  • as desired steamed broccoli florets, sautéed bell peppers, or roasted asparagus

Garnishes

  • to taste sliced scallions, toasted sesame seeds, fresh cilantro

Instructions
 

  • Cook rice according to package instructions.
  • Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, then drain excess fat.
  • Add minced onion; cook 3-5 minutes. Stir in garlic and ginger; cook 1 minute.
  • Mix hot honey, soy sauce, and rice beverage in a small bowl. Pour over beef and simmer 2-3 minutes.
  • Assemble bowls with rice, beef, vegetables, and garnishes. Serve immediately.
