Ingredients
  

Butter

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter divided
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1.5 cups basmati rice see note 1
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.75 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper
  • 1.25 cups chicken stock or broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 large lemons 1 teaspoon zest, 4 tablespoons juice
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped flat-leaf parsley optional
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh dill optional

Instructions
 

  • Melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat, add garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add rice and cook for 2-3 minutes until translucent, then stir in seasonings, broth, water, and remaining butter. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, let sit covered for 10 minutes, then fluff with a fork. Stir in lemon zest, juice, parsley, and dill. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh herbs and high-quality broth.
