Ingredients
  

Bread and Raisins

  • 4 cups cubed white bread approximately 8 slices, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 0.25 cup raisins

Dairy and Sugar

  • 2 cups milk
  • 0.25 cup butter softened
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup heavy whipping cream

Caramel Sauce

  • 0.25 cup butter for caramel sauce
  • 0.25 cup sugar for caramel sauce

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Combine bread and raisins in a large bowl.
  • Heat milk and butter until melted; pour over bread mixture and soak for 10 minutes.
  • Add sugar, beaten eggs, vanilla, and nutmeg; stir to combine.
  • Pour into a greased 1.5-quart casserole dish and bake for 40–50 minutes until golden and set.
  • For caramel sauce, melt butter and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened, about 5–8 minutes.

Notes

Serve warm with caramel sauce drizzled on top for extra indulgence.
