Ingredients
  

Water and Sugar

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 0.25 cup molasses

Spices

  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 0.5 tsp ground allspice
  • 0.5 tsp ground nutmeg

Eggs and Dairy

  • 6 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 0.67 cup sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Garnishes

  • whipped cream for topping
  • ground cinnamon for garnish
  • gingerbread cookies for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Combine water, sugar, molasses, and spices in a saucepan and heat until sugar dissolves.
  • In a bowl, whisk eggs and additional sugar until well combined.
  • Gradually add warm spice mixture to eggs, then stir in milk, cream, and vanilla.
  • Heat the mixture gently until just warmed, then chill before serving.
  • Serve chilled, topped with whipped cream, cinnamon, and gingerbread cookies.
