Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • cup brown sugar, packed

Wet ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • ½ cup pumpkin purée not pumpkin pie filling
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional glaze

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk or cream

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet.
  • Mix dry ingredients, then cut in cold butter until coarse crumbs form.
  • Whisk wet ingredients, combine with dry, and form a shaggy dough.
  • Turn dough onto floured surface, shape into circle, cut into wedges, and place on sheet.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden. Cool on wire rack. Optional: mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over scones.

Notes

Use cold butter for flakier scones. Adjust glaze sweetness as desired.
