Ingredients
  

Meat

  • 1 pound flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain Can be substituted with sirloin or ribeye
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown) Prepared according to package directions
  • 1 cup sliced cucumbers
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds Optional, for garnish
  • to taste kimchi for serving Optional, for authentic Korean touch

Instructions
 

  • Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to marinate the steak for 10 minutes.
  • Cook the marinated steak in a skillet over medium-high heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Prepare rice according to package instructions.
  • Assemble bowls with rice, sliced steak, cucumbers, carrots, green onions, and garnish with sesame seeds and kimchi if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the steak longer or add a drizzle of sriracha for spice.
