  • 1 tablespoon olive oil adds a mild flavor and helps sear the chicken evenly.
  • 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning key to the dish’s bold flavor.
  • 12 oz pasta penne, fettuccine, or spaghetti.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter forms the base of the creamy sauce.
  • 1 cup heavy cream makes the sauce velvety and rich.
  • ½ cup chicken broth adds a savory base to the sauce.
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese adds a salty, umami depth to the sauce.

Instructions
 

  • Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning. Sear in olive oil until cooked through.
  • Cook pasta in salted water until al dente, then reserve some pasta water before draining.
  • Melt butter in the skillet, sauté garlic, then add Cajun seasoning and smoked paprika.
  • Stir in heavy cream and chicken broth, simmer until thickened, then add parmesan cheese.
  • Combine pasta and sauce, add sliced chicken, and toss to coat.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve with a squeeze of lemon.

Notes

For a seafood twist, substitute chicken with shrimp.
