Ingredients
  

Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter

Toppings (optional)

  • melted butter (for brushing, optional)
  • sesame seeds (optional topping)
  • flaky salt (optional topping)

Instructions
 

  • Mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl.
  • Add warm water, milk, and butter; stir into a sticky dough.
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth; let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  • Shape into a loaf, place in a greased pan, and let rise 30–40 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C); bake 25–30 minutes until golden. Brush with melted butter and add toppings if desired.

Notes

For a softer crust, cover the bread with a towel while cooling.
