  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Add-ins

  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Whisk flour and baking soda, set aside.
  • Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in salt and vanilla.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Gradually add flour mixture until combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips and nuts (if using). Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  • Scoop dough onto parchment-lined sheets, bake 10-12 minutes until golden.
  • Let cool 5 minutes on sheets, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough to develop flavors and ensure chewy texture.
