Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Caramel Layer

  • 1 cup store-bought caramel sauce
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Toppings

  • 1 cup toffee bits (or crushed toffee candies)
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch pans.
  • Mix dry ingredients, then add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat 2 min.
  • Stir in boiling water until batter is thin. Divide into pans and bake 30 min.
  • Cool cakes, then heat caramel sauce and cream until smooth.
  • Layer cakes, drizzle with caramel, then sprinkle toffee bits and chocolate chips.

Notes

For extra flavor, toast the toffee bits before sprinkling.
