Meat and Potatoes

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 6 medium russet potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch dish.
  • Cook ground beef and onion until browned; drain excess fat.
  • Layer half of potatoes, beef mixture, and 1 cup cheese; repeat layers.
  • Mix soup, milk, and melted butter; pour over casserole.
  • Bake covered 35 mins, then uncovered 15 mins until bubbly; let stand 10 mins.

Notes

For a richer flavor, sprinkle extra cheese on top before baking.
