Ingredients
  

Dough

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110 to 115°F)
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (plus more as needed)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Filling & Topping

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (finely shredded, divided)
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (grated, divided)

Instructions
 

  • Combine sugar and yeast in a bowl, add warm water, and let foam for 5-10 minutes.
  • Mix flour and salt, add yeast mixture and olive oil, knead until smooth, then let rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Mix softened butter, parsley, garlic, and salt.
  • Divide dough, roll into rectangles, spread butter mixture, add cheeses, roll into logs, and slice almost through.
  • Arrange logs in pans, top with remaining butter mixture, let rest for 15-20 minutes, then bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
