Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment.
Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat until golden and nutty, about 10-15 minutes.
Whisk cocoa powder and vanilla into the browned butter until smooth.
Beat eggs and brown sugar until pale, then fold in the butter mixture. Add flour and salt, then chocolate chips if using.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25 minutes, testing for doneness with a toothpick.
Notes
For extra flavor, toast the chocolate chips before adding.
