Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • 2-3 pieces jalapeno peppers (seeded and finely chopped) about ¼ cup, adjust for spiciness
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 4 cups granulated sugar

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan and stir until combined.
  • Heat over medium-high, stirring until berries burst and sugar dissolves.
  • Use a potato masher to press berries until smooth.
  • Increase heat and cook until the jam reaches 220°F, stirring occasionally (about 25-30 minutes).
  • Remove from heat, cool slightly, then transfer to jars for storage.

Notes

Using a candy thermometer helps achieve the perfect jam consistency.
