¾cupblack cocoa powder, spooned then leveled and sifted
2teaspoonsbaking powder
1teaspoonbaking soda
½teaspoonsea salt
Wet Ingredients
3eggseggs, room temperature
1cupbuttermilk, room temperature
⅓cupavocado oil (can substitute vegetable, grape seed, or canola oil)
1tablespoonpure vanilla extract
1cuphot, light roast coffee (or hot water)
Frosting & Decorations
quarter batchquantitychocolate buttercream (or 1+ cup of your favorite frosting)
to tasteblack gel food coloring (optional, to make filling pure black)
blackmeltsblack candy melts
light greenmeltslight green candy melts
light greenpearlslight green sugar pearls
1 packsetcake pop sticks
as neededparchment paper or a silicone mat
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325F/165C. Mix dry ingredients, then whisk wet ingredients separately. Gradually combine, then bake for 25-30 mins at 8" rounds or 40-45 mins in a 9x13 pan. Cool completely.
Crumble cooled cake, mix with buttercream, shape into cake balls, and chill.
Dip sticks in black candy, insert into cake balls, then freeze. Dip balls in black candy melts, set, then decorate with green melts and pearls.
Notes
Ensure cake is fully cooled before decorating to prevent melting.
