Noodles

  • 8 oz chow mein noodles or egg noodles, fresh or dried

Vegetables & Oils

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or sesame oil for added flavor
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 cup bell peppers, thinly sliced any color
  • 1 cup snow peas or snap peas, trimmed
  • 2 medium carrots, julienned or thinly sliced

Sauces & Seasonings

  • 2-3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free version
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional) for added sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional) for extra flavor
  • 0.5 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional) for sweetness

Garnishes

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add garlic, ginger, and sliced onions; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Add bell peppers, snow peas, and carrots; stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  • Return beef to the pan, add cooked noodles, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and beef broth; toss to combine and heat through for 2-3 minutes.
  • Finish with sesame oil (if using), sugar, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce and gluten-free noodles.
