Ingredients
  

Cooking Oil

  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil divided
  • 1 large yellow onion sliced
  • 1.5 pounds cube steaks 4-6 steaks
  • salt salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups low sodium beef broth
  • 1 sprig fresh thyme
  • salt salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. Season steaks with salt, dredge in flour mixture.
  • Sauté onions in 1 tbsp oil until tender; set aside. Sear steaks in remaining oil until browned; set aside.
  • Make gravy with butter and flour, then gradually add beef broth, whisking until thin. Add thyme and onions, then bake with steaks for 1.5 hours.
  • Remove thyme, check seasoning, and serve once steaks are tender and gravy thickened.

Notes

Ensure steaks are dry before dredging for better coating.
