Ingredients
  

Dairy and Eggs

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Bread

  • 4 cups cubed brioche or challah bread (day-old preferred)

Fruits and Nuts

  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Other

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a muffin tin.
  • Whisk eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Mix bread, apple, and pecans into the egg mixture.
  • Divide mixture into muffin cups, pressing gently. Drizzle with melted butter.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden. Cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with maple syrup if desired.

Notes

Using day-old bread helps it soak up the custard better.
