  • 1 unit unbaked 9 inch pie crust

Filling

  • 1.5 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.75 cup hot water
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place pie crust in dish.
  • Mix flour, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and salt; set aside half for topping.
  • Whisk molasses, baking soda, hot water, and egg; pour over crumb layer.
  • Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top and bake 45-50 minutes.
  • Cool completely before slicing; serve plain or with whipped cream.
